The Turlough Shirt

My favourite summer shirt, with its unique neck line and it looks fabulous in stripes. Loose fitting in the body and arms makes it lovely and airy.

This shirt has been inspired from one particular Doctor Who episode way back in 1984, when it made its one and only appearance. I’ve never seen anything like it since so I designed my own version.

My sewing pattern is available now in the shop.

Off the rack sizes XS-XXL £80 + fabric.

Bespoke commissions starting from £125.

Twilly Ties

I love things that are a little different and the neck ties worn by the Sixth Doctor in Doctor Who are certainly that.

I’ve made quite a few for myself now and they work brilliantly in a Liberty print cotton lawn fabric. A versatile unisex accessory that can be tied in loads of different ways.

Pick out your very own Twilly from the collection available now in the shop.

Mark Francis Upcycled Waistcoat 2.JPG

Upcycled Waistcoats

Both of these waistcoats were born from upcycling old trousers and they were a joy to make. I love a waistcoat and to be able to reuse something that could easily have been destined for the bin is a great feeling. It also means much loved trousers can live on.

Commissions starting from £150.

Mark Francis Brighton Shirt inspired by Dr Who.JPG

The Brighton Shirt

I love this shirt so much. Somewhere between smart and casual. Lovely cool Indian cotton. Long sleeved for fresh summer nights and with huge lapels.

The inspiration came from Doctor Who in 1980 when Tom Bakers fourth Doctor sported this rather unique shirt.

Commissions starting from £125.

The Bishop Sleeved Shirt

I’m regularly looking for inspiration from past eras of fashion and I loved these huge ‘bishop sleeves’ from the 1970’s so I popped them onto a modern cut shirt along with my favourite cuff style - the triple button.

Commissions starting from £125.

The Hacking Jacket

Based on a traditional Norfolk jacket, this distinctive and practical jacket is always a favourite of mine.

I took inspiration for this garment from Tom Bakers first season in Doctor Who back in 1974 and drafted my own version of it.

I love nice big pockets!!

The Sleeved Cape Coat

I’ve always loved this coat since I saw it on the TV as a boy. Many years later and a lot of books read in research I finally managed it.

Super warm in the winter and it has a lovely swish to it, big pockets and is loose fitting. It’s also versatile enough to be made in a summer weight too.

Commissions starting from £350.
