Pertwee Inverness Cape sewing pattern

£16.00

A timeless classic, the Inverness Cape.

This is a loose fitting sleeveless coat with capelets covering the arms. This can be made either fully lined or unlined, with pocket options provided and button closure. If you wish to make an unlined cape then ignore the instructions for adding a lining. Instead I would suggest overlocking all raw edges and turning under the seam allowance with a top stitch to neaten. The Inverness is perfect for wearing over a jacket or jumper from autumn through to early spring. If you wish to make a knee length cape then just add the extra required length to the hem, 10-12 inches should be enough depending on your height. Check the length of the capelets, they should just reach your knuckles when added to the main body

To fit chest 34”-54”

Suitable fabrics include Wool Coating, boiled, tweed Melton or similar; Twill, Velvet or corduroy.

5 meters main fabric

4 meters lining fabric

4 x buttons

Vlieseline G770 interfacing for coat front, facing, collar & pocket
